Wheaton Brasil achieves another ABRE award – Design & Packaging

In its 9th edition, the ABRE Award for Design & Packaging, promoted by the Brazilian Packaging Association (ABRE), awarded those most distinguished companies which believe in the recognition of Brazilian packaging, during a ceremony held on August 26th, at the Espaço Trivento in São Paulo.

For over 50 years acting in the manufacturing of glass packaging for the perfume & cosmetic, pharmaceutical and food markets, Wheaton Brasil Vidros received the ABRE prize again this year.

Wheaton was awarded the prize in the Perfume Packaging category, for the packaging of Avon’s Color Scents Colognes. (Fire me Up, Make me Smile and Make me Wonder). The packages were rated according to innovation, creativity, sales appeal, positioning of the product within its category, harmony, clarity of information, tuning and other aspects.

With the challenge of creating a line of perfumes, and considering the youngsters who love buying and collecting perfumes, Eric Lee, Avon New York’s exclusive designer, came up with modern, colorful and attractive packages which triggers different feelings and attitudes. The Color Scents line was created within this context: to attract youngsters with small and colorful packages and with scents which touch the mood and which instigate surprising reactions.

The packages are coated with transparent organic painting, emanating youth and freshness. The name of each fragrance was printed in silk screen in the same color as the cover, creating a contrast with the bottle’s color.

Chosen colors: yellow, red and pale purple, bringing out feminine intentions.

Red is the color of passion. It’s the spark which makes life so exciting. Pale purple is linked to mystery and magic. Yellow is the brightness of the Sun and light – it’s the essence of happiness which makes smiling unavoidable.

Helena Gracia, manager of the Perfume category at Avon Brasil, says: “youngsters love to buy and collect perfume. They always want change and novelties. For them, perfume is an indispensible accessory, as they feel it’s a final touch to production, both for daily and partying use. The Color Scents line is different from anything in the market, new scents and modern colors, bringing different emotions and attitudes”.

The ABRE Award – Design & Packaging, created in 2001, is considered as the most important Brazilian packaging prize, being recognized world-wide. The awarded packages are exposed at the leading world fairs and can run for the WorldStar, the most important international prize in the sector and which is organized by the World Packaging Organization – WPO. Apart from the WPO, the award has the backing of Ulade – Latin American Packaging Union, PBD – Brazilian Design Program of the Ministry of Industry, Development and Foreign Trade, and of the CSPD – São Paulo Design Center, important entities working for the recognition of packaging and Design.

As said by Marta de Oliveira Baggolin, Marketing and New Products Development Manager of the Group Wheaton, “this award is proudly received, since it shows the high quality and innovation of the Brazilian packaging industry worldwide”.

Wheaton Brasil has been awarded a number of other packaging design and client service excellence prizes, as a result of ongoing investment in the innovation and relationship with the client. The Wheaton Brasil Group is presently one of the five largest plants in the world specializing in glass packaging for the perfume & cosmetic, pharmaceutical and food markets.
